Valerie J.M. Watzlaf, PhD, FAHIMA, RHIA, is an associate professor of health information management at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at University of Pittsburgh. She has published extensively in the field of HIM and is the recipient of AHIMA’s Research Award. She also serves on the Board of Director’s at AHIMA. Valerie has been running since 1978 and has completed two marathons and several other 5k,10k, and half marathon races. Her goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon someday!
